Our Family

While my grandma lives upstairs, my family and I live downstairs. Our family consists of my husband Kade, me, and my two sons Creed and Thane.

Kade is graduating from UVU in December in English, but will be working in business after he graduates in December. He served a mission in S Korea, enjoys playing and watching sports, and loves spending time with family and friends.

I graduated in elementary education, taught 1 year (2nd grade), and then have been a mom, caretaker, and tutor since. Besides spending time with my sons and grandma I also enjoy home decorating, painting, reading, and cooking/baking.

While my grandma is very happy with her living circumstances, she and I both think that a roommate would be beneficial.

My Grandma

My grandma is 81 years old. She is one of the sweetest women I have ever met. She enjoys genealogy, reading, movies, good food, and family. Although she is happy and doing well, my mom, grandma, and I believe she would be even happier if she had an elderly companion to share the upstairs and her family with.

Our Situation:

I have been caring for my grandma for 2 years this January. Our situation is very unique and ideal to one who is not quite capable of caring for themselves and would prefer a small family/home style assisted living situation. We live in a 2 level home. My husband, 2 year old son, new baby, and I live downstairs. My grandmother lives upstairs.

Two years ago my mother and aunts decided that although she was living alone and was doing “okay”, she would do much better with assistance. Originally, my grandma moved into an assisted living facility. Although it was a great facility, for the price she was paying, her daughters felt like she would be happier in a smaller, more intimate setting. This is when my mom, aunts, and I decided to have my grandma move upstairs and for me to care for her. This has worked out wonderfully. She has her own space (the entire upstairs), in addition to daily care from someone who loves her.
